Han La Poutré is full professor of Intelligent Energy Systems at Delft University of Technology (part-time). He also is member of the Management Team of CWI (the Dutch national research center on mathematics and computer science in Amsterdam) and senior researcher on intelligent systems at CWI. He works on computational intelligence and multi-agent techniques, especially for problems in Smart Energy Systems, optimization, and markets. He holds a PhD degree in computer science (from Utrecht University) and a MSc degree in mathematics (Eindhoven University of Technology, TU/e). He was formerly affiliated with Princeton University, Utrecht University (KNAW Fellow), Eindhoven University (full professor), and Leiden University. He has been leader of many (energy) projects, chairman of two program writing committees on energy of NWO defining the call for projects, member of the NWO program committee SES (Smart Energy Systems, supervising the NWO projects in this program), and chairman of the NWO program committee URSES (Uncertainty Reduction in Smart Energy Systems, supervising the NWO projects in this program). He is co-chair of the energy program of Commit2Data and NWO, on Energy System Integration & Big Data (ESI-bida). He has been leader of (sub) projects of EIT Digital (formerly EIT ICT Labs), on research and innovation in smart energy systems (EIT: European Institute of Innovation and Technology) in cooperations between academic institutions and companies. He also had (former) memberships of boards, like the editorial board of ACM Transactions on Internet Technology (2006-2012), and the Scientific Directory of Schloss Dagstuhl – the Leibniz Institute for Informatics (2008-2014). And he has been chair of the IEEE Computational Finance and Economics Technical Committee (CFE TC) of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (IEEE CIS), for the years 2007 and 2008.
