AMS Metropolitan Solutions Photo Contest

Do you know of a good metropolitan solution that contributes to a sustainable future of the urban environment? If so, be sure to take a spectacular photo of your idea for the Metropolitan Solutions Photo Contest of Wageningen UR, and have a chance to win €250, €100 or get your photo put on display!

The winning photo
Photo entries will be judged based on relevance to the theme, originality, creativity and composition. Photos will be assessed by:

  • Zef Hemel – Professor on Urban and Regional Planning (Wibaut Chair) at the University of Amsterdam, deputy director at the Spatial Planning Department of the City of Amsterdam and co-organiser of Summer School ‘Thinking City’;
  • Kadir van Lohuizen – International photojournalist based in Amsterdam and one of the co-founders of NOOR. Known for his long term projects, including ‘Diamond Matters’ and ‘Aderen’ and received numerous prizes and awards for his work.
  • Arnold Bregt – Professor on Geo-Information Science at Wageningen University & Research centre, AMS Principal Investigator.

The jury will select 10 shortlisted photos, including a winner and two runners-up. Prizes are €250 for the winner and €100 for the two runners-up.

All shortlisted photos will be exhibited as large-format prints during the public final event of Summer School ‘Thinking City’ on Thursday, 16 July 2015, in Stadstimmertuinen, Voormalige Stadstimmertuin 4-6, Amsterdam. Entrants of these photos will receive the prints at the end of the evening. The shortlisted photos will also be exhibited in an open air photo exhibition on Wageningen UR campus in the autumn of 2015.

Prize-giving ceremony
Winner and runners-up will be officially announced by Lars Boering, managing director of World Press Photo, at the public final event of Summer School ‘Thinking City’ on Thursday, 16 July 2015. The evening will start at 7.30 PM (19.30) with the prize-giving and will be followed by the Summer School programme ‘Narratives about the future of Amsterdam’.

Entries must be received by 12.00 AM on Friday, 10 July 2015 (UTC +2 hours).
