Alexey is part of the Urban Data Sciences team of AMS Institute and contributes to the management of research data and its infrastructure. He also facilitates research and education activities. This, in sum, makes the institute’s research output more discoverable and accessible. Alexey provides advice and assistance on options and solutions on storage, preservation, and improved availability of data. The goal is to allow for more openness and transparency in scientific research and public sector.
His educational background is in environmental policy (MSc at Wageningen University). Alexey developed a strong interest for applicability of scientific data and information in public planning and policy through his ongoing PhD research at Wageningen University. His focus lies on stakeholder participation and the use of scientific information in natural resource management.

During off hours, Alexey enjoys playing jazz on the piano and cooking Russian dishes for Amsterdam locals. He also loves cross-country skiing and ice fishing back in Russia, but switched to race-biking and jogging here, which are a better fit for the Dutch climate.
Above all, Alexey strives to boost research and activities of various stakeholders in Amsterdam through all the scientific information that AMS Institute has to offer. In his eyes, it is crucial to raise awareness for good management of research data to allow for application and replication of the research findings of AMS Institute.
