AMS ANFP #13 – Food policies in Amsterdam

ANFP – AMS’ Network for Sustainable Food Planning

A new academic year just starting, and with it, ANFP is looking forward to meeting you all again and to keep bringing to the table more events to connect food linked-minded people. We hope you have come back with full charged batteries!

This season opening meeting (ANFP#13) will take place on the 25th of September (Monday) from 13:00 to 16:00 at AMS Institute (Lecture room).

The subject to be tackled this time is the current state of food policies in Amsterdam. This meeting will serve also as the basis of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Food Event 2017 – Food of Flows – which will take place on the 7th and 8th of December 2017.

The format of the ANFP#13 meeting will be a series of 2 lectures followed by an open discussion:

· Toni Kuhlmann analysed the evolution of several food strategies in Amsterdam and the barriers that exist(ed) to successfully implement them in the city. She just completed her BSc Thesis at Uva and she will be presenting her main findings this day.

· Didi Spieksma works for the GGD, she will present the Gezond Gewicht Aanpak (Healthy Weight Plan) that she is elaborating on. Besides that, she will expose the first insights of programme launched last May that aimed to come up with innovative solutions to promote healthier urban food environments in the city.

There will be time for comments and questions after each presentation and plenty room for dialogue and debate at the end. Do not miss this opportunity to get some light on the food policy situation in the city by understating the main encountered difficulties and by understanding how the policy making process is innerly developed.

Please, feel free to share this information with your contacts that might be interested in it and do not forget to send an email to Julia Ubeda ( to confirm your attendance to the meeting

ANFP team hopes to see you all there!
