AMS Amsterdam Smart City partnership

Open Collective for positive city change

We are happy to announce we are an official partner of Amsterdam Smart City. By sharing many competencies, we aim to contribute to this open collective for positive city change on topics such as the circular economy, digitalization, mobility, and energy. Alderman Meliani of the City of Amsterdam (Art, Culture and the Digital City) marked the start of the next phase of Amsterdam Smart City during WeMakeThe.City.

The current sixteen main partners for the next four years joined the alderman on stage, among which, Ger Baron CTO at the Municipality of Amsterdam, Pallas Agterberg Director Strategy at Alliander, Nina Tellegen Director of the Amsterdam Economic Board, and Arjan van Timmeren from AMS Institute.

Amsterdam Smart City is an open collective which connects business, knowledge institutes, government and end-users who are convinced that essential and necessary changes for developing the city and region can only be realized through cooperation. By pooling our brainpower, skills, and network, we jointly develop better streets, neighborhoods and cities on the most important urban transitions that are going on.

Stephan van Dijk: “We share the same vision for improving the city and we work on similar topics and challenges, but we also have very complementary know-how and competencies. Therefore, it was only natural to strengthen and formalize our collaboration”. AMS Institute joins the collective as an acceleration partner to work on transition paths in Energy, MaaS, Digital City and Circular City. By doing so, we strive to work together on competencies such as networking, knowledge sharing, citizen engagement, consulting, design and research.

Part of the new partnership are: PostNL, Amsterdam Economic Board, Municipality of Amsterdam (CTO), Eurofiber, Province of North Holland, NEMO, Kennisland, Pakhuis de Zwijger, Alliander, WAAG, AUAS, Johan Cruijff ArenA, Municipality of Haarlemmermeer, KPN, Arcadis and AMS Institute.
