Carl is a Horstmann Scholar and Master of Environmental Management candidate at the Yale School of the Environment and Visiting Researcher and Student at the MIT Senseable City Lab, where he works with the Senseable Amsterdam Laboratory. Carl will work with green infrastructure design and interventions that can accelerate Amsterdam’s journey toward carbon neutrality and climate resilience.

Carl’s most recent work has focused on working with a New York-based NGO to identify possibilities for just and equitable green infrastructure and develop specific recommendations on building community wealth through climate mitigation interventions. He has also spent the last semester developing a strategic recommendation plan for the town of Stratford, including an in-depth exploration of community-oriented climate resilience efforts.

Carl is also a co-founder of the Gaia Salon at Yale and a Fellow of the American-Scandinavian Foundation.

Carl believes that a better, greener, and more human-centric urban future is possible through innovative and nature-inspired design.

“It is when we realize we are of nature and not in na-ture that we will create the optimal habitats for the centuries to come.”
