As Financial Controller at AMS Institute, Don van der Valk is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s financial management and control processes. With AMS Institute continuing to grow in projects, partnerships, and activities, he supports the further professionalisation of the finance and control function, ensuring that financial operations remain robust, transparent, and fit for the organisation’s evolving needs.
Don brings more than 30 years of experience across a wide range of finance and control roles. He began his career in the financial sector and, more recently, worked as Financial Controller for an internationally oriented NGO.
Born and raised in Amsterdam’s Rivierenbuurt, Don is especially proud to contribute to an organisation dedicated to the future of the city. He is motivated by helping AMS Institute build a strong financial foundation that enables impactful research, innovation, and collaboration for Amsterdam and beyond.
