Lixia coordinates two MADE courses: Professional Profile and Sustainable Urban Development: Discover Advanced Metropolitan Solutions. Through Professional Profile, she builds a bridge between academia and the real world. Lixia contributes to MADE as an academic coach for Living Lab. In addition, Lixia is a lecturer in the Environmental Technology group at Wageningen University & Research (WUR). Before joining WUR, she was a postdoctoral researcher at TU Delft.
Lixia’s research focuses on integrating space- and ground-based modelling to understand human–environment interactions. Her work combines Earth observation, remote sensing, GIS, and modelling to explore how we can better understand, adapt to, respond to, and address climate-related challenges, strengthening urban adaptive capacity and resilience. Together with PhD candidates she supervised, she investigates drought, water management, urban heat, air pollution, and other climate-related challenges.
Lixia contributes to digital twins research as a co-chair of the Sustainable Development Goals committee of the International Society of Digital Earth, connecting her roles across AMS and WUR.
Lixia values the interdisciplinary, research-practice-oriented, and international environment of AMS. Her expertise, research focus, and cross-disciplinary interests align closely with the profile of AMS, making her feel at home.
“I envision a future where Digital Earth enables more sustainable interactions between humans and our environment.”
