Nan Bai currently works as an Assistant Professor in the section Heritage & Architecture, Department of Architectural Engineering and Technology, Faculty Architecture and Built Environment at Delft University and Technology. Previously, he worked as a Postdoc Research Fellow in the Public Administration and Policy Group at Wageningen University & Research. He obtained his PhD (cum laude) at the UNESCO Chair of Heritage and Values of TU Delft.

With a multi-disciplinary background in architecture, psychology, heritage studies, big data analysis, and applied artificial intelligence, Nan always has a broad interest in the application of computational social science in historic urban settings with heritage values and attributes, especially the perceptions reflected from the posting behavior on social media. He focuses on data-driven understanding of heritage cities, and heritage management under climate change risks, especially in the policy context.

He is a member of the Emerging Professionals at CIPA Heritage Documentation, the ICOMOS Netherlands, and Delft Design for Value Institute. He is also a research fellow at the CityAI Lab of TU Delft.

I am largely curiosity-driven in bridging heritage and cutting-edge digital technologies. With MADE students I am passionate to teach data skills essential to real-world practice and research.
