On Monday 14 October, Mayor Halsema will receive the Mayor of Beijing, Mr. Chen Jining. During his visit to Amsterdam, the Mayor Chen will also pay a visit to AMS Institute.
Before his current position, Mayor Chen was Minister of Environment and President of Tsingua University, one of the best universities in the world. His interest in the environment, sustainability, food production and science is reflected in the challenges he has given priority to in his tenure as mayor. His visit to the Netherlands also bears witness to this. In Amsterdam, for example, he not only meets with Mayor Halsema but also visits us at AMS Institute. Waternet will inform him about water management and water quality. Moreover, he'll pay a visit to the Science Park of the University of Amsterdam, and in Amsterdam North and the Zuidas, he will talk to several organizations about sustainable urban development.
The Bank of Beijing, which travels with Mayor Chen, signs a Memorandum of Understanding with ING. Besides Amsterdam, Almere, Eindhoven and Wageningen University & Research will also be visited.
