Complex urban challenges rarely have a single owner or a ready-made solution. In a Living Lab, you test out new technologies, collaborations, and processes on a small scale. In this way, you discover what works, avoid unnecessary investments, and speed up innovation. You can now learn how this works at your own pace with the new e-learning: four modules, about two hours, whenever it suits you. This online training is available in English and Dutch.
Urban Living Lab Way of Working
The e-learning is developed by AMS Institute and TU Delft within the Toekomstbestendige Leefomgeving (Future-Proof Living Environment) program and is based on AMS Institute’s Urban Living Lab Way of Working Handbook.
The Urban Living Lab Way of Working is a valuable addition to existing project management skills, connecting projects, stakeholders, and partnerships through systems thinking. This makes better use of learning opportunities and creates a foundation for improved collaboration and further scaling.
What can you expect from this e-learning?
This online course on the Living Lab Way of Working consists of four modules:
- The complexity of urban challenges (± 20 min): why do complex issues call for a different way of working?
- The characteristics of a Living Lab (± 20 min): what makes Living Labs so valuable for learning and development?
- The multilevel perspective (± 20 min): how do you map and organize an innovation ecosystem?
- The Urban Living Lab Way of Working (± 45 to 60 min): 8 activities in 4 phases that you can use to set up your own project.
The e-learning combines reading material, interactive images, and short tutorial videos. You are guided through the theoretical context of the method using a fictional but realistic case. This way, you can better understand the way of working and translate it into your own practice.
Who is it for?
For everyone working on innovation: project managers, designers, policymakers, process facilitators and implementers, at municipalities, contractors, engineering firms and knowledge institutions. No prior knowledge is required.
