Storage of renewable energy at the household or neighbourhood level has a potential to contribute to a low-carbon energy system. This research examines how storage can be implemented successfully in urban regions by focusing on the social and organisational aspects. Implementing storage requires new forms of cooperation between existing and new players in the field of smart energy. In addition, storage systems and services need to take into account the preferences and needs of end users.
