Over de functie
Als Living Lab Coordinator werk je samen met wetenschappers, ambtenaren, inwoners en bedrijven aan experimenten die gericht zijn op urgente en complexe maatschappelijke uitdagingen in Amsterdam.
Het grootste deel van je tijd word je de Living Lab coördinator binnen het infrastructuur programma Toekomstbestendige Leefomgeving (TBLi). Dit programma richt zich op het realiseren van transities in de openbare ruimte door het ontwikkelen van nieuwe manieren van onderhoud en aanleg van bruggen, kademuren en wegen in en rond Amsterdam. Hierbij wordt gewerkt aan circulaire, biobased, levensduurverlenging- en vervangingstechnieken voor onze infrastructuur in het algemeen. Als Living Lab coördinator ben je verantwoordelijk voor de ondersteuning van onderzoek en innovatieactiviteiten in verschillende proeftuinen in & rond Amsterdam.
Binnen het TBLi-programma is het AMS Living Lab team verantwoordelijk voor onderzoek naar en ontwikkeling van een leeromgeving. In die leeromgeving kan de infra- en bouwsector een groep adaptieve professionals opbouwen die de realisatie van een emissievrije, circulaire en klimaatbestendige leefomgeving mogelijk maakt en versnelt. Je draagt dus bij aan een nieuwe manier van leren, werken en toepassen voor het ontwerpen en ontwikkelen van experimenten in de praktijk (proeftuinen).
Daarnaast werk je mogelijk aan andere living labs van AMS Institute. Als Living Lab coördinator zorg je ervoor dat partijen goed samenwerken, er synergie ontstaat tussen de verschillende disciplines, dat onze Living Lab aanpak wordt toegepast en doorontwikkeld en houd je zicht op de voortgang richting resultaten en impact.
Je werklocatie is het AMS Institute op het Marineterrein in Amsterdam en daarbij de verschillende proeftuinen in en rond de stad.
Wat ga je doen?
Je dagelijkse werkzaamheden als Living Lab coördinator bestaan onder andere uit:
- Faciliteren van het proces van ontwerpen en opbouwen van proeftuinen (experimenten in de praktijk) met de AMS Living Lab methode;
- Coördineren van de introductie en toepassing van de AMS Living Lab Way-of-Working bij de aangewezen proeftuinen;
- Signaleren van kansen voor kruisbestuiving tussen proeftuinen en de verbinding leggen met interventies op het gebied van cultuurverandering van uit het project Safe Space Dialogues;
- Organiseren en uitvoeren van workshops en trainingsmodules i.s.m. de partners in het TBLi programma;
- Ondersteunen van het onderzoek naar en formulering van aanbevelingen ter verbetering van leermethodes en implementatie van de Living Lab methodiek
- Rapporteren van voortgang in de verschillende proeftuinen dan wel living labs.
Als Living Lab coördinator werk je daarnaast mogelijk een of twee dagen per week aan andere labs uit het AMS Institute portfolio, gericht op onze urban challenges.
Positie in de organisatie
Je wordt onderdeel van het AMS Urban Impact Team, dit zijn ervaren professionals die allemaal living labs, projecten, trainingen en/of entrepreneurship programma’s ontwikkelen en leiden. Binnen dit team werkt een groep van circa acht mensen aan het effectief opzetten en uitvoeren van living labs op verschillende locaties in Amsterdam, gericht op de verschillende thema’s van AMS Institute.

Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS Institute) is het gezamenlijke kennisinstituut van de TU Delft, Wageningen University & Research en MIT. Onze missie is het ontwikkelen van een diepgaand begrip van de stad, het ontwerpen van oplossingen voor haar uitdagingen en deze te integreren in de stad Amsterdam. Met ons team van ingenieurs, onderzoekers, ondersteuners, studenten, programmaontwikkelaars, ondernemers en medewerkers van de gemeente Amsterdam dichten we dagelijks de kloof tussen maatschappij en wetenschap. Wat we vragen
Deze functie heeft een junior invulling. Dat betekent dat werkervaring geen vereiste is en er veel ruimte is voor begeleiding door ervaren collega’s om jezelf te ontwikkelen. Uit je studie en nevenactiviteiten blijkt jouw organisatietalent, maatschappelijke betrokkenheid en je affiniteit met stedelijke innovatie en infrastructuur in het algemeen. Je kunt goed samenwerken met diverse partijen zoals aannemers, ingenieurs, onderzoekers en ambtenaren, hebt een proactieve houding en bent in staat om verandering te realiseren.

- AMS Institute is een tweetalige organisatie. Deze functie vereist een goede beheersing van de Nederlandse en Engelse taal in woord en geschrift.

Wat we bieden
- Een functieomvang van 32-40 per week.
- Een salaris met een minimum van € 3.226,- en een maximum van € 5.090,- bruto per maand op basis van een volledige werkweek (40 uur), salaristabel cao NU peildatum augustus 2023.
- Een dienstverband voor het programma Toekomstbestendige Leefomgeving (TBLi) van 1 jaar, bij goed functioneren en continuering van het programma is verlenging met 2 jaar mogelijk.
- 8% vakantietoeslag en een eindejaarsuitkering van 8,3%.
- Een uitstekende pensioenregeling via het ABP.
- 328 verlofuren per jaar (bij 40 uur).
- Vergoeding voor reiskosten.

About the Role As a Living Lab Coordinator, you will collaborate with scientists, officials, residents, and businesses on experiments aimed at urgent and complex societal challenges in Amsterdam.
The majority of your time will be spent as the Living Lab Coordinator within the Future-Proof Living Environment (TBLi) infrastructure program. This program focuses on achieving transitions in the public space by developing new methods for maintenance and construction of bridges, quay walls, and roads in and around Amsterdam. This involves working on circular, biobased, life extension, and replacement techniques for our infrastructure in general. As a Living Lab Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting research and innovation activities in various pilot projects in and around Amsterdam.
Within the TBLi program, the AMS Living Lab team is responsible for research and development of a learning environment. In this learning environment, the infrastructure and construction sector can build a group of adaptive professionals who make possible and accelerate the realization of an emission-free, circular, and climate-resilient living environment. Thus, you contribute to a new way of learning, working, and applying knowledge for designing and developing experiments in practice (pilot projects).
Additionally, you may work on other living labs at AMS Institute. As a Living Lab Coordinator, you ensure that parties collaborate effectively, create synergy between different disciplines, apply and further develop our Living Lab approach, and monitor progress towards results and impact.
Your primary workplace will be the AMS Institute at Marineterrein in Amsterdam, as well as various pilot projects in and around the city.
What Will You Do?
Your daily tasks as a Living Lab Coordinator include:
- Facilitating the process of designing and building pilot projects (experiments in practice) using the AMS Living Lab method;
- Coordinating the introduction and application of the AMS Living Lab Way-of-Working at designated pilot projects; Identifying opportunities for cross-pollination between pilot projects and connecting them with interventions in the field of cultural change from the Safe Space Dialogues project;
- Organizing and conducting workshops and training modules in collaboration with partners in the TBLi program;
- Supporting research and formulating recommendations for improving learning methods and implementing the Living Lab methodology;
- Reporting progress in various pilot projects or living labs. Additionally, as a Living Lab Coordinator, you may work one or two days a week on other labs from the AMS Institute portfolio, focusing on our urban challenges.
Position in the Organization
You will become part of the AMS Urban Impact Team, consisting of experienced professionals who develop and lead living labs, projects, training, and/or entrepreneurship programs. Within this team, a group of approximately eight people works on effectively setting up and executing living labs at various locations in Amsterdam, focusing on the different themes of the AMS Institute.

- Excellent organizational and communication skills. HBO/WO level of education.
- AMS Institute is a bilingual organization.
- This position requires a good command of both the Dutch and English languages, both spoken and written.

What We Offer
- A position of 32-40 hours per week.
- A salary ranging from €3,226 to €5,090 gross per month based on a full-time (40-hour) workweek, according to the salary scale NU collective labor agreement as of August 2023.
- An employment contract for the Future-Proof Living Environment (TBLi) program for 1 year, with the possibility of extension for 2 years upon satisfactory performance and continuation of the program.
- 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
- An excellent pension scheme through the ABP.
- 328 vacation hours per year (based on a 40-hour workweek).
- Reimbursement of travel expenses.
