The Student Hotel aims to create the best space where students and travelers can find their purpose and change the world. Not just with the well-designed and thought-out rooms, or the many great shared communal facilities. When we think “best space,” we think of a stimulating environment and an exciting global community.

We reimagined our hotels as boundary-blurring spaces where students, travelers, mobile professionals, creative nomads, and enterprising minds could connect in well-designed co-living and co-working spaces. This is now fast becoming Europe’s biggest hybrid accommodation for students, hotel guests and professionals, our Complete Connected Community.

The Student Hotel and AMS Institute regularly collaborate on research initiatives to improve our understanding of and way of working in urban communities, as well as invest in sustainable business practices. These initiatives focus on urban mobility or water and energy usage in our locations for example.

Project

Saving Energy When Others Pay the Bill

Urban Energy

What motivates people to use less energy, when they are not the ones paying the bill? Like for example in a hotel. A long-term, field experiment at Amsterdam’s Student Hotel started to shed some light on this question.
