Luise Härtel is a communications advisor for coalitions and events at AMS Institute. Whether it’s for the bi-annual AMS Scientific Conference, CRCL Park, Energie Lab Zuidoost, the Open Knowledge Coalition, or events and living labs across Marineterrein, she works on the strategic positioning and communication strategies that make these collaborations visible and accessible to partners, practitioners, and wider audiences.
Before joining AMS, Luise worked on various transition projects within the international festival ecosystem. She contributed to programs such as the Green Deal Circular Festivals and conference ADE Green; as well as facilitating event industry sessions and advice trajectories on mobility, circularity, food, social safety, and accessibility. Her work often revolved around festivals as experimental “mini-societies” where future-forward solutions can be tested before scaling to cities.
From festival grounds to urban living labs, Luise is particularly interested in how experimental environments can accelerate systemic change. She believes that connecting unexpected perspectives and bringing the right people together is essential to bridge research and practice.
“Transitions require knowledge and connection: without data there's no direction, without a story there's no movement.”
