Sanne is one of the study advisors of the master program Metropolitan Analysis, Design and Engineering (MSc MADE). During their studies, students encounter all different kinds of personal and educational challenges. As a study advisor, Sanne is the first point of contact for students to ensure their study progress and well-being. Next to that she is involved in promotion of the program and informing students who are interested in starting the master program.

Sanne holds a MSc degree in International Development Studies from Wageningen University and Research. After her studies she stayed closer to home than most of her peers, working on innovation in the city of Amsterdam. At MSc MADE, she still comes across sustainable and inclusive urban development, but she finds most joy in coaching students and supporting their personal and academic development.

Well-being and social safety are essential to any study or work environment, according to Sanne. She continuously starts conversations and looks for methods on how to build a safe, inclusive and supportive culture within the program and beyond.

Educated to understand complex societal problems, and convinced that fruitful interaction only works when we start from our personal values, Sanne sees great value in the way AMS Institute and MSc MADE welcome a variety of people in order to approach the pressing challenges and find solutions that make sense.

“Our students are committed to learn and to create in order to make a change. Seeing them grow and supporting them along the way is a true joy”
