Jess is the (Interim) Program Director of the MADE Program and the coordinator of the Living Lab. She is affiliated with Wageningen University’s Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing (GRS). Her academic history includes a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington, a Masters in Sustainable Development from Utrecht University, and a PhD in alternative non-potable water (re)use from Wageningen University’s Environmental Technology chair (ETE).
She is currently focused on urban sustainability and design. Her previous work spans from renewable energy (hydrokinetic and solar), energy efficiency (commercial and design), and sustainable devel-opment (water use, desalination, and tourism).
Jess has previously worked as an energy efficiency engineer, founder of a solar installation committee, and vice-president of project management for a commercial-scale solar company.
Jess has always enjoyed problem solving, particularly on sustainability focused topics. This is primarily because of the potentially positive global impact. She chose to relocate to the Netherlands as she wanted to be in the one place that she considers to be the leader of exploring, implementing, and integrating sustainability topics into day-to-day life.
“I want to use my 'powers' for good and make the world a better place than I found it”
