Just two weeks ago, a new group of founders kicked off the eighth batch of the AMS Startup Booster. Over the coming months, these teams will work closely with mentors, experts, and partners to strengthen their ideas and prepare for growth. Guided by the Booster’s mission to support innovative solutions for more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive cities.

This cohort brings together a diverse and inspiring mix of entrepreneurs. Half of the startups are female-led, and nearly half are student-founded, reflecting the wide range of perspectives and talent the program aims to support. From early-stage ideas to more developed ventures, all teams share a clear ambition: to create a positive impact in urban environments.

Together, the startups are exploring solutions across climate action, circular innovation, digital tools for cities, and social inclusion. Some focus on reducing environmental impact, while others aim to make urban systems smarter or everyday city life more accessible. What unites them is a strong commitment to tackling real challenges cities face today, and turning bold ideas into practical solutions.

As the program unfolds over the next few months, we look forward to supporting this cohort as they test, refine, and scale their innovations.

Now, let’s meet the startups of the AMS Startup Booster Batch 8.

Industry: Smart Cities & Data-driven Tourism

ROODS turns cities into open-air museums by connecting cultural institutions, municipalities, and visitors through location-based storytelling and AI-powered content. It helps cities, large and small, share authentic stories, engage visitors beyond landmarks, and increase cultural visibility.

Roomus

Industry: Housing

Roomus is a platform that helps university students find compatible roommates through verified profiles and a matching algorithm focused on lifestyle preferences. It addresses challenges such as unsafe listings, scams, and housing stress, particularly for international students in Amsterdam and other Dutch cities.

Storks Robotics Lab

Industry: Smart Cities & Robotics

Storks Robotics Lab develops autonomous robots and rovers to clean streets, collect litter, and monitor urban environments safely and efficiently. Customers include municipalities, public service providers, and land management organizations seeking cost-effective, healthier public spaces. The startup reduces municipal labor costs, improves environmental monitoring, and opens opportunities for broader urban robotics applications.

The Swap Club

Industry: Circular Economy & Sustainable Fashion
